Arkin Dovani
Arkin Dovani is born in the shimmering city of Solanis, steeped in the mysteries of arcane knowledge and celestial beauty. He doesn't know it yet, but his very birthplace sets a seal upon his remarkable future.
The only child of Morna and Veth, Arkin's early life is steeped in love and familial warmth. But it also remains undeniably touched by the ethereal oddity of his family's hereditary gift of foresight. A fifth-generation seer, Arkin's gift is certainly not an anomaly in his lineage but his parents' desperate wish for him to escape this burden hangs like a dark cloud in their home.
When Arkin is no older than five, a tragedy occurs to mark his life forever. His father succumbs to an assailant's blade during a consultation with a dangerous patron. The seeds of anger and vengeance are planted deep within him. Yet, as he grows, he understands the irony of his existence.
He is simultaneously gifted and cursed to glimpse the moments yet to come, yet he remains unable to change his father's gruesome fate. This childhood trauma nudges him, quite reluctantly, towards the path of a soothsayer.
In his late teens, Arkin is visited by the High Priestess of the Cult of the Twin Brother. The Old Camaba Temple is in desperate need of a dovani, they say. Despite understanding what the role demands, Arkin consents. His sight is ritualistically taken away, marking his transition into adulthood leaving him blinded for his third eye to take control.
Arkin becomes the High Seer (dovani) for the Twin Brother Cult at Old Camaba Temple, the top asset as he provides his visions uncorrupted by the mundane sight. The world might see him as disabled, but Arkin knows he sees more than ever before. He hungers for something deeper, something beginning with the knowledge of all things unseen. His gift of foreseeing intertwines with the temple's dark secrets, helping him unravel the hidden threads of reality.
Despite his unique position in the Cult, Arkin is a fiercely loyal man. His best friend, Maris, stands next to him as his most trusted companion and helper. But trust is a double-edged sword and when he foresees Maris's planned betrayal, he learns an important lesson. To see does not equal to control. This betrayal reshapes Arkin, hardens him into a man of steel and resolve.
From that day, Maris, once his closest ally, becomes his biggest enemy. The years of friendship transform into a bitter rivalry. Amidst all these life-shattering changes, Arkin clings to his life credo, "Maris might have failed me, but I will never fail myself."
Arkin's famous quote, "To lose one's sight is to gain true vision" echoes in the mighty walls of the Temple, a testament of his strength and resilience.
Over time, he develops an acute ailment, a bitter taste lingering at the back of his throat. It is the cost of his gift, they say. But Arkin never complains. His faith guides him, keeps him tethered to his existence.
Bearing the weight of his decisions, Arkin Dovani isn't just the Dovani of the Old Camaba Temple. He is the embodiment of resilience and survival, a man facing his destiny undaunted, even as his sightless eyes gaze into an uncertain future.
