Laia Kinom
In the heart of the city of Arna, atop a hill punctuated by luxurious manor houses and ornate fountains, Laia Kinom lives. She embraces a destiny as complex as the woven threads of the noble blood coursing through her veins.
Arna's noble families bet on power, wealth and influence, but the Kinoms have an extraordinary fortune - they birth soothsayers. It's a legacy dating back to generations, a heritage guarded fiercely, for that which makes them transcendent also makes them targets. And Laia, their youngest soothsayer, born under a rare, silver eclipse, carries the dense weight of their legacy.
Residing within the comforting folds of the Kinom mansion, early life for Laia is an intricate mix of costly silks, decorated lore, and abstract perceptions. Transcending her visible world, her gift of future sight blurs her reality. She dances with whispers of the wind prophesying joy and doom, paints portraits of the unseen with her vibrant dreams, and weaves glimpses of what is to be into the intricate tapestry of existence.
Her prophecies, initially cryptic echoes of foreshadowed events, bloom into authentic revelations over time. Though feared and misunderstood, they are irrefutable, leading the Kinoms and the whole of Arna into an inevitable confrontation with a present that mirrors Laia's prophecy.
A devastating event marks Laia's lifelong trajectory. Arna, the city she loves, drenched in sunlight, now dips under the shadow of tyranny. A robust network of emissaries from the neighboring kingdom seizes control of the city council, and with it, the heart of Arna.
Stepping into the role of a hero, Laia's father, Lord Kinom, raises his voice against the tyranny. A wave of resistance hails from him, but it meets a hurricane. In the ensuing power struggle, Lord Kinom is assassinated, leaving his city and his bloodline under the invading emissaries.
Laia, witnessing the tragedy that was her prophecy, internalizes her guilt and grief. Her noble birth, once a symbol of high regard, turns into a cage. She faces the harsh reality—there's ill-intent for her gift of soothsaying. Her prophecies can turn tides, a power coveted by many, and she is now the pawn in a deadly power-play.
She will unearth the depths of her gift, she decides, to reclaim her city and avenge her father. Every prophecy she intercepts, every whisper of the wind she understands, will unmake her enemies until freedom is restored in Arna.
