Odis Egerton, born in the year 484, was originally from the kingdom of Heborus. He was the third and youngest son of a knight, and from a young age he showed a propensity for warfare. He was highly skilled with a sword and shield, and was quickly promoted through the ranks of the kingdom’s army. By the time he was twenty-one, he had been knighted and was serving under the command of his father.
In 496, Heborus was invaded by a neighboring kingdom. Odis and his father were sent to defend the kingdom, but they were overwhelmed by the enemy’s forces. Odis was captured and held captive for two years, until he was rescued by a group of bandits.
Following his release, Odis returned home to find his father had been killed during the war. He bitterly blamed himself for the death of his father, and vowed to dedicate his life to killing the kingdom’s enemies. He set out to find a new kingdom to fight for, and soon found himself in the kingdom of Meletis.
Odis quickly became a hero in Meletis, and was assigned to lead the kingdom’s army. He fought in many battles, and eventually rose to become the kingdom’s ruler. However, Odis was never content with ruling a small kingdom. He yearned for greater power and recognition, and so he began to plan an attack on Meletis’s neighbor, the kingdom of Orcus.
Odis gathered an army of mercenaries and began to march across the border into Orcus. However, just before he was to launch his attack, he was treacherously attacked by one of his own mercenaries. Odis was barely able to survive the attack, and was forced to retreat back to Meletis.
Following his attack on Orcus, Odis began to grow increasingly paranoid. He feared that someone was out to get him, and so he began to take extra precautions with his safety. He refused to leave his castle, and began to restrict access to his kingdom. Even his closest friends were denied access to him.
One day, a cousin of Odis, a magician named Negon, came to the kingdom, who learned about the state of the psyche of his cousin. In childhood, young people were very friendly. Negon was worried about his brother and tried to help him. He managed to infiltrate Odis's castle and cast a spell of revelation on it. After this ritual, Odis was in a state of stupor, then his body took on its former form, and the soul was cleansed of the disease.
After the events described, Odis abdicated, transferring power in the kingdom into the hands of his brother, and set off to travel as a knight-errant. Perhaps now he travels the roads in search of adventure.
