Born into a tumultuous family of rebels, Darval Nizusaer was an outcast from the start. With long pointed ears and striking features, the elven child had a difficult birth, filling the fiercely proud mother with rage at the passive father who could not protect their offspring. Darval's early life was marked by poverty and danger as the family was hounded by the law for their continuous fighting against what they deemed oppressive forces.
Despite the grim circumstances, Darval managed to find solace in playing pranks on her older siblings, an impressive feat for a tiny girl who was forever dodging the fists of disgruntled siblings.
It was during one of these pranks that she first met her lifelong friend, the centaur Jolerhin, who was delighted by the child's sarcastic wit and daring spirit. Their friendship blossomed into a partnership as they engaged in thievery and sabotage against enemy forces.
Years passed, and rebellion had become a way of life for Darval as she grew more ruthless in her destruction of the established order. She was branded a menace, a destroyer of all just and right, and it only spurred her on.
Her early experiences had taught her to care for only those who had earned her loyalty and love. Those who crossed her had to be shown the same callousness she had faced in her own life.
Her current occupation often called for her services from wealthy clients, seeking a swift end to their enemies. She formed alliances based on what benefits she could gain, and her enemies feared her ruthless efficiency.
But for all her cold-hearted manner, it was found that she had a peculiar soft spot for creatures in need, ever faithful to repaying the kindness that was once shown to her.
Darval does not have morality in the traditional sense, but rather a keen sense of survival, which meant putting herself first and foremost. Her adventures have taken her to the far corners of the world, engaging in underground trading on the black market, and hunting down rare magical artifacts that she keeps to herself. She takes sermons of law and justice with a pinch of salt, as it is all white noise to her ears.
The long-eared elf has accrued numerous titles for her notorious exploits around the realm, earning her the monikers, "The Wrecker of Peace" and "The Lethal Blade." To her allies, however, she is fondly referred to as "Immortal Princess of Escape" for her skill to evade the grim reaper's touch (whether this sobriquet is earned or not is debatable).
Her mannerism gave the illusion of a vacant poker face, but she radiated an unbroken cool in the direst circumstances that only inspired bravery in her comrades.
Darval's quirk manifested in her love of old silver trinkets, trophies she amassed over the years - her personal symbols of her wealth and authority.
She wasn't above bending the law or twisting facts to get what she wanted. Still, murder was an offense she would never take lightly. It weighed heavily on her conscience.
Darval is that which caused other city governors and guards, even Nobles sleepless nights worried about both in-service troop sanctions but more about the risk of stirring up chaos.
